Why buy an American pickup?
Pickups are the best-selling vehicles in the United States, and the Ford F-Series has been America's best-selling truck for more than four decades. That scale means the widest choice of cab styles, bed lengths, engines and trim levels in the world, from work-spec trucks to luxury models with every option.
The main full-size lines are the Ford F-150 and heavier Super Duty trucks, the Ram 1500 and heavy-duty Ram 2500/3500 (Ram became a brand separate from Dodge in 2010), the Chevrolet Silverado and its sister truck, the GMC Sierra. Mid-size options include the Ford Ranger, Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon and Jeep Gladiator, and electric pickups such as the F-150 Lightning, Rivian R1T and Tesla Cybertruck are now on the market too.
What to check before importing a pickup
Size and weight matter more for a pickup than for most imports. Check the truck's length against your garage and local parking, and its gross vehicle weight rating against your driving licence: in the European Union, a standard car licence covers vehicles up to 3,500 kg maximum authorised mass, and heavy-duty trucks often exceed that.
How a pickup is registered and taxed, whether as a passenger car or a light commercial vehicle, varies by country and can change the running costs considerably. Modern US-specification trucks usually also need individual approval work, such as lighting changes. Check our country pages or ask your adviser before you choose a truck.
Delivered price and shipping
The delivered price covers the truck, US inland transport, ocean freight to your destination port and our service. Customs duties, import VAT or taxes, port charges at destination, registration and local compliance costs are paid separately.
Shipping times are estimates, not guaranteed dates: they depend on the port, the shipping line, customs and your destination country. Your adviser shares an estimated timeline and keeps you updated at each stage.
Frequently asked questions
Can I drive an American pickup on a normal car licence?
In the European Union a standard car licence covers vehicles up to 3,500 kg maximum authorised mass. Many half-ton trucks such as the F-150, Ram 1500 and Silverado 1500 are rated below that, but some configurations and most heavy-duty models exceed it. Check the truck's weight rating and your own country's rules.
Can a pickup be registered as a commercial vehicle?
In some countries, yes, which can change the taxes you pay, but the rules differ from country to country and depend on the truck's configuration. Ask your adviser or check your local authority before you buy.
What does the delivered price include?
The truck, transport inside the USA, ocean freight to your destination port and our service. Customs duties, import VAT or taxes, destination port charges, registration and local compliance costs are not included.
Do you sell classic pickups too?
Yes. Classic trucks such as the Ford F-100 and Chevrolet C10 appear here and on our classic trucks page.
How long does shipping take?
Shipping times are estimates: they depend on where the truck is, the port, the shipping line, customs and your destination country. Your adviser gives you an estimated timeline once you reserve.
