The classic American pickup
Pickups were built to work, so fewer survived in good condition than cars of the same age, and the best ones are now valued as highly as many classic cars. They are simple to maintain, great fun to drive and supported by a huge parts industry.
- Ford: the F-Series began in 1948 with the F-1; the half-ton became the F-100 in 1953, and the 1953–1956 trucks are among the most popular classic pickups of all.
- Chevrolet and GMC: the Advance Design trucks (1947–1955, including the 3100), the Task Force trucks (1955–1959, with the Apache name from 1958), then the C/K series from 1960. The 1967–1972 and 1973–1987 "square body" C10s are especially sought after.
- Dodge: the rugged Power Wagon, sold to civilians from 1945, and the D-series trucks from 1961.
- Car-based pickups: the Chevrolet El Camino and Ford Ranchero combined a passenger-car front with a pickup bed.
What to check on a classic truck
Look at the frame, cab corners, floors, door bottoms and the bed, which often took the hardest use. Trucks from dry states are usually the most solid.
Many classic trucks have been modernised with newer engines, disc brakes, power steering or lowered suspension. These builds can make excellent daily drivers, but ask for a list of the changes and check whether your country requires approval for them before registration.
Importing a classic truck
The delivered price covers the truck, US inland transport, ocean freight to your destination port and our service. Customs duties, import VAT or taxes, port charges at destination, registration and local compliance costs are paid separately.
Trucks over 30 years old in original condition often qualify for historic-vehicle treatment with reduced duty or VAT in many countries. Shipping times are estimates that depend on the port, shipping line, customs and destination country.
Frequently asked questions
Which classic trucks are the most popular?
The 1953–1956 Ford F-100, the 1947–1955 Chevrolet 3100 and the 1967–1972 Chevrolet C10 are among the best known, with Dodge Power Wagons and square-body Chevrolets close behind.
Is a modified classic truck harder to register?
It can be, depending on your country. Engine, brake and suspension changes may need documentation or approval, so check your local rules before you buy.
What does the delivered price include?
Everything on the US side until the truck reaches your destination port: the truck itself, inland transport to the departure port, ocean freight and our service. You pay customs duties, import VAT or taxes, destination port charges, registration and any local compliance costs separately.
Can you inspect a truck before I buy?
Yes. We can arrange a detailed video inspection of the frame, cab and bed, and share all photos and documents available for the truck.
Where can I find modern pickups?
Current and recent trucks such as the Ram 1500, Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado are on our American pickup trucks page.
