Charger history

The Charger name has covered very different cars, from big-block muscle coupes to a front-wheel-drive hatchback and a full-size sports sedan. The 1968–1970 cars are the ones that made it famous, helped by roles in Bullitt and The Dukes of Hazzard.

  • 1966–1967: a fastback built on Chrysler's B-body, the first Charger.
  • 1968–1970: the "Coke-bottle" design with hidden headlights. The R/T was the performance model, and the 1969 Charger 500 and Charger Daytona, with its nose cone and tall rear wing, were built for NASCAR.
  • 1971–1978: a restyled muscle car that became a personal-luxury coupe as the decade went on.
  • 1982–1987: a front-wheel-drive hatchback.
  • 2006–2023: a rear-wheel-drive four-door sedan with V6 and Hemi V8 engines, including the supercharged SRT Hellcat from 2015. A new generation arrived for the 2024 model year.

What to check on a classic Charger

On late-1960s and early-1970s Chargers, the VIN includes the original engine code and the fender tag lists engine, transmission, paint and options. Because R/T, Hemi and Daytona cars are worth many times more than base models, check the codes against the car and ask for build documentation; tributes are common and should be priced as such.

Rust usually starts in the rear window channel, trunk floor, rear quarters, lower front wings and floor pans. On modern Chargers, a vehicle history report, service records and an inspection are the essentials.

Importing a Charger

The delivered price covers the car, US inland transport, ocean freight to your destination port and our service. Customs duties, import VAT or taxes, port charges at destination, registration and local compliance costs are paid separately.

Classic Chargers over 30 years old often qualify for historic-vehicle treatment with reduced duty or VAT. Modern US-specification Chargers usually need individual approval work, and some countries charge high registration taxes on large engines. Shipping times are estimates that depend on the port, shipping line, customs and destination country.

Frequently asked questions

Which Charger years are the most collectable?

The 1968–1970 cars, especially R/T, Hemi, Charger 500 and Daytona models. The 1966–1967 fastbacks and 1971–1974 cars are also popular and usually more affordable.

Is a 2006–2023 Charger a good buy?

It is a practical four-door with V8 performance, and Scat Pack and Hellcat versions are especially popular. Check service history and ask about individual approval requirements in your country before importing.

What does the delivered price include?

The Charger, its transport inside the USA to the departure port, ocean freight to your destination port and our service. Not included: customs duties, import VAT or taxes, destination port charges, registration and local compliance costs.

Can you verify a classic Charger before I buy?

We can arrange a detailed video inspection, including the VIN, fender tag and engine, and share all photos and documents available for the car.

How long does delivery take?
